Can I Be Your Best Friend?

That’s my long-term desire! (And I know deep inside every parent harbors the same desire for their children).
I say it long-term because right now she is only 4 years old, and no matter how much I try to be her friend, it just won’t work. She is not mature enough to grasp my heart and her understanding is limited. In fact, if I try and become her friend, it may hamper her growth. What she needs now is a mother to hold her hand and lead her.
Do you know God Almighty wants to be our best friend?
HE is the one who initiates a friendship with us. In fact, Jesus called us as friends even before we could become one.
Yes, God is our good Father who loves us, disciplines us, protects us and leads us.
But when we begin to grow in our understanding and knowledge of Him, He begins to walk alongside us as a friend and we begin to carry His heart.
My son, if you accept my words and store up my commands within you, turning your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding—indeed, if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding, and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God (Proverbs 2:1-5)
And then, as a friend, there are no longer secrets, but He reveals all who is and all He has. Not that He has been hiding, but He is a God who is waiting to reveal Himself in a manner like never before.
..But I call you my most intimate friends, for I reveal to you everything that I’ve heard from my Father. (John 15:15, AMP)
Church, let’s grow up! Let’s move into what He is calling us to. The faster we renew our mind, the closer we reach in our friendship with Jesus.
That’s the sweet spot!
