Does God Hide?

Have you ever seen a father play hide and seek with his toddler? When it is the father’s turn to hide, he intentionally chooses a spot that is easy for his son to locate. He then makes sure he leaves a hint for him to pick up, or screams out, “I am ready, search me”, so that the son is able to gauge from which direction the father’s voice is coming. And what joy the father has when the son catches him!

And Moses said, I will now turn aside, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt.
And when the Lord saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I.

Open your eyes
Beloved, God is not hiding from you in your situation right now. He sees what you go through and in fact He has been drawing your attention all along.

Oh, that our eyes be opened that we may not miss His cues. May we stop to do what we are doing, and turn around and look.

I am thinking if the burning bush encounter happened in today’s times, Moses would have probably shot a video of it and posted on his Instagram Reel or done a Facebook Live, see it go viral, and that’s it.

And that’s precisely what we do, every time we hear God we run to our nearest platform and be vocal about it. What we forget that is that it was only an invitation to something deeper, something hidden, in fact an encounter with God!

Only when Moses pursued, God came out of His hiding and gave him his calling and the assurance of having I AM WHO I AM by his side.

So does God hide?

I believe He does.

But He hides only to be found! He delights in revealing himself and leaves cues only to lead you to a point where a burning bush encounter awaits.

I am praying that we become those seekers that bring him out of His hiding! And, I hear the father say: The biggest joy is mine!
