How to be Preferred by Breakthroughs – 5 keys (Part 1)

We all are desiring breakthroughs in one or more areas of our lives. But, is there something that we can do that can cause us to be preferred by breakthroughs? Wow, isn’t that powerful ?
Let me take you to a passage in the Bible in John 4:46-50
“And there was a certain nobleman whose son was sick at Capernaum. When he heard that Jesus had come out of Judea into Galilee, he went to Him and implored Him to come down and heal his son, for he was at the point of death. Then Jesus said to him, “Unless you people see signs and wonders, you will by no means believe.” The nobleman said to Him, “Sir, come down before my child dies!” Jesus said to him, “Go your way; your son lives.” So the man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him, and he went his way.”
Here are 5 keys that we can take from the life of this nobleman who attracted a breakthrough in his life:
1.Leave your comfort zone
“And there was a certain nobleman whose son was sick at Capernaum. When he heard that Jesus had come out of Judea into Galilee, he went to Him and implored Him to come down and heal his son..” John 4:45-47
Capernaum in Hebrew literally means “the village of comfort”. The way you get your breakthrough is by first moving out of your comfort zone.
You need to move out of things you have been religiously doing.
You need to move out of the flesh that wants to have a pity party about your problems.
As long as we are in this world, there will be problems (John 16:33). At every level of your growth, there will be a different problem fighting you. But, the way God expects us to approach our problems is by growing bigger than our problems.
And the way to grow bigger than your problems is by spending time with the Word of God. There is no shortcut. The Word of God is power and there is a way you can cause the Word of God to work for you. For that you need to leave your comfort zone and come close to the Word.
Because David was spending time with God, with His Word, when he came out to meet Goliath, David was the bigger giant. When Joshua and Caleb went out with the other spies to survey the land, while the others saw the giants Joshua and Caleb saw the giants as bread.
This is the response of a king and a priest. We don’t run away from problems but God gives us a key that can cause us to grow bigger than our problems.
Whatever problem you are facing today, pick up the scripture as a weapon in your hand and bring that Goliath down.
2. Guard what you hear
“When he heard that Jesus had come out of Judea into Galilee, he went to Him and implored Him to come down and heal his son..” John 4:47
Your life depends on what you are hearing. Hence, it is so important for you to guard what you are hearing.
If faith comes by hearing the Word of God, fear also comes the same way. The words that you hear are like seeds that are sown in your heart that bring either faith or fear.
When the noble man heard that Jesus had come to Galilee, he left Capernaum and went to Him. What you hear is what you lean on in your challenging situation. It becomes your reference point, and it influences you to function in a manner.
Therefore, hear what will increase your faith. Everything that makes you doubt the Word of God or the goodness of God is something that you should run away from.
What you hear you become a slave of. Be a ‘slave’ to this good good God and His Word, and He will cause you to rise.
In this world, we will always hear someone speaking fear and negativity, and many times it is our own family that speaks such words. But, make sure that the quantity of faith you hear is more. That’s how you outbalance the negativity or fear.
We will talk about 3 more keys in the part 2 of this post series. Coming soon!
