Pastor you spoke about the four things we should be wise to chose, one of which is our life partner. My question to you is: How can we understand who is the one God has chosen for us?

Yes, God has chosen your partner when he created you.

Now you will have to diligently Pursue God , with that I mean to build a relationship with God to get the answer to your Question.

Why did God allow Saul to suicide and would he have actually gone to heaven after suiciding? - Silas

Here are our views:

Our God is good and He has good plans for our lives (Jeremiah 29:11). However freewill is a gift God has given man, that is, Man has the freedom to choose right from wrong. When Saul decided to end his life, that was a choice he made in his misery. Just like we have a choice to follow God’s instructions or to disobey. God will never violate our wills, because He didn’t create us as Robots.

Whether Saul went to hell or heaven, that eternity will tell. But more important than that is the lesson to learn: Suicide is NEVER God’s plan. It is demonic, and that’s not the way God wants our lives to end

When we fast is it necessary to tell people as and when they ask us? - Alisha

Pastor Derrick: Jesus, when talking about fasting said: When you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face, so that it will not be obvious to others that you are fasting, but only to your Father, who is unseen; and your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. ( Matthew 6:17,18).

Fasting is between you and God. But there could be people around you in your schools, colleges or workplaces, who may see you not eating and may genuinely want to know the reason. The Bible says in 1 Peter 3:15, But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear.

Personally at my workplace when someone sees me not eating and they are aware that I am fasting, they ask me: What do you want from God? And I use this opportunity to explain to them the real meaning of fasting. I fast not so that God speaks or answers my prayers, but He is always speaking and always answering. I fast, so I can hear Him. Fasting helps me to get rid of my unbelief as I feed on my spiritual food that is the Word of God.

In fact, you need to ‘eat’ during the fast. If you say you are fasting and you are not feeding on the Word of God and spending time with Him, your fasting is as good as dieting. That’s one reason why I love to fast during my holidays to make it special between me and God.

So when you get a question about fast its great opportunity to tell the truth as the truth sets people free!

We praise God for your truthfulness and the fact that you desire to walk in the ways of the Lord, is a step in the right direction. Realising where we are wrong, is the first step to breaking free from what pulls us back. We live in a fallen world and so none of us is temptation-proof. But the problem starts when we start yielding to it. And it starts little by little (like yeast, which too seems to be a small thing, but it works its way through a whole batch of dough pretty fast), and then destroys your life (James 1:14-15)

I can never forget the day Jesus came into my life, I was transformed in an instant. I was born again and soon got baptised in water and the Holy Spirit. Nobody forced me or even asked me, I read it in the Bible and was led by the Holy Spirit to obey. The reason I’m saying this is because, if you truly have had an encounter with the LIVING GOD, trust me you won’t need anyone to tell you or convince you to do anything that His Word says. You will place a million more times priority on what God has to say rather than how anyone on planet earth may think or feel about your actions!

I like what the early church had to say when they were threatened by the world to stop preaching in the name of Jesus. Acts 4:19 says – Peter and John replied, “Judge for yourselves whether it is right in God’s sight to obey you rather than God”. Jesus makes it even easier in Matthew 10:37

He says “Anyone who loves their father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves their son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.”

So the guideline is simple – if you have met HIM, you will know what to do. If you still don’t know what to do there is a good chance you have not met HIM.

A man of God prophesied certain things over my life, but so many years have passed and nothing has happened. Why? - Annie

Prophesy is a seed birthed through the Word of God. While only God can make this seed grow, He gives us the responsibility to water, cultivate and care for it in order to reap the fruit. With respect to your prophesy, ask the Holy Spirit for wisdom and grace to know the areas where God wants you to take action.

It also helps tremendously to verbally declare it over your life. Call things that are not as though they are (Romans 4:17). Hebrews 10:23 says: Let us hold fast to the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who has promised is faithful. Yes, God is faithful to fulfil every promise of His, but you need to 1. Confess and 2. Hold fast to what you are confessing without wavering to see the promise come to pass in your life. We have written a post about this, you can refer to the link here:

Wow, congratulations. The Bible says that he who finds a wife, finds a good thing and receives favour from the Lord (Proverbs 18:22). The decision of marriage is something that will not only affect a season in your life, but will impact your lifetime. And as His child, God wants you to make all the decisions of your life, especially marriage, on the leading of His Spirit, and not on the basis of your friends or parental pressure. The world can go wrong, but God never will. And as a good Father who gives perfect and good gifts to His children, God doesn’t want you to play a ‘hit-and-miss’ game. He is the one who knows your end from the beginning and He wants you to depend on the wonderful counsellor and your best friend Holy Spirit for your marriage decision. We urge you to use this season to draw closer to Jesus and seek His grace to prepare you for your marriage.

I keep falling into the debt trap again and again. How can I set myself free? - Edward

Debt is not a part of God’s plan for your life. Just as rich rule the poor, so the borrower is slave to the lender (Proverbs 22:7).

It’s like declaring- I am willing to be a bond slave for the sake of _________ ( car, phone? Fill the gap).

Everything you are prompted to take a loan or credit for something, ask yourself- is this really what I need? Can my need wait? Is there a better way to pay for my need?

Taking loan for the sake of liabilities? That’s the worse thing you can do. Don’t buy things that you cannot afford. Avoid the credit card trap that makes you overspend.

And above all, trust God to be your provider and not banks or people or loans (Philippians 4:19).

If you are already in debt, your first financial goal should be to get out of it. Psalms 37:21 in the Living Bible reads – Evil men borrow and “cannot pay it back”. But the good man returns what he owes with some extra besides.

I am suffering with depression. It is becoming worse day by day. Help! - Dcosta Rowland

I don’t know the cause of your depression, but I know the cure- Jesus. When He died for you, he took away your depression and nailed it to the cross. Know that your breakthrough is not in striving or worrying, but in knowing your position and identity in the finished work of Christ.

Depression is a mind condition and hence fighting it begins with tackling your mind. Take a strict inventory of your thought life. Only pure, holy, excellent thoughts (Philippians 4:8) are invited in your mind. Give legal notice to vacate all bad or negative thoughts. Your thoughts must align with God’s Word and not your situation, state of mind or feelings.

Whether you feel like or not, soak in the Word of God. Stick the scriptures on your door posts, walls, wherever your eyes can see them. Plant the seed of God’s Word religiously in your heart and the truth from His Word will set you free.
