(By Kim)

So there you are, excited about a specific prophetic word you received over your life. You test it, and your heart confirms that it is from the Lord. And then months and years pass and nothing happens. Is there anything wrong? Why isn’t my prophesy coming to pass?

Why isn't my prophesy coming to pass?

Why isn’t my prophesy coming to pass?

Here are 5 things you need to do:

1. Partner with God

Coming from a church that is very strong in this gifting, as leaders, our hearts break to see people running from meeting to meeting to receive a word from prophets of God, only to sit over it for years!

If you really believe a prophesy has come from God, then the next thing you would want to do is to seek God to understand what part you have to play in fulfilling that prophesy.

Prophesy is a seed birthed through the Word of God. While only God can make this seed grow, He gives us the responsibility to water, cultivate and care for it in order to reap the fruit. Ask the Holy Spirit for wisdom and grace to know the areas where God wants you to take action. For example: If you have received a prophesy that you will be used mightily in the area of worship, instead of being passive about it you can take some action steps. Start training your voice, writing your own songs, learning praise scriptures, learning a musical instrument, watching videos of anointed worship leaders or get yourself involved in anything that will take you close to what has been prophesied over your life.

2. Stay in the Word

Since prophesy is birthed from God’s Word and through God’s Spirit, the wisdom to walk in it will also come from God. It is therefore important that in your waiting period, you stay in His Word. A branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine (John 15:4). Similarly you and I cannot be fruitful if we do not remain in His Word.

Also choose to seek God selflessly regardless of your prophesy. The Word of God is greater than any prophesy you may receive. Seek Him and His heart more than His deeds.

3. Record your prophesy

No matter how strong your memory is, it makes sense to write down your prophesies. Maintain a prophetic journal and date wise write down all the prophesies that you receive at different points in your life. It will encourage you and give you a purpose in life. It will also help you to identify a pattern in God’s communication with you.

4. Meditate upon it

Chew on your prophesies regularly. Read it, and then read it again. Visualise it happen in your life. Pray in tongues over it. Take every word back to the Lord and seek His direction.

It also helps tremendously to verbally declare it over your life. Call things that are not as though they are (Romans 4:17). Hebrews 10:23 says: Let us hold fast to the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who has promised is faithful. Yes, God is faithful to fulfil every promise of His, but you need to 1. Confess and 2. Hold fast to what you are confessing without wavering to see the promise come to pass in your life.

5. Be faithful in the little

Lastly, be faithful in the little that you have now. Your right attitude and gratitude will make way for bigger opportunities to enter your life. The Bible says: “If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones. But if you are dishonest in little things, you won’t be honest with greater responsibilities (Luke 16:10).
