Why God hates Pity, and Why You Should Too

One day, in my quiet time with the Lord I heard Him say, “Tell My children that I don’t deal in pity. I am a God of mercy. Pity is for orphans, but mercy is for sons.”
Pity is a result of an emotion, which is there today and gone tomorrow. But His Mercy never ends. They are new every morning. (Lam 3:22-23)
Do you know one of the Hebrew root words for mercy is Rakh-am, which means, mother’s womb. God gives us mercy because we are from His womb.
You are not an orphan that was picked from the streets. You are a son who was once lost, but now is found. And that’s why the angels in heaven celebrate when someone gets born again, because the son who was lost is now found.
Sadly most of us like to roll in self-pity.
We grumble and we complain about the things and situations in our life that we think we don’t deserve. And at other times we look at somebody else’s life and complain that they have what we deserve.
If only I was born in a rich family.
If only I had a platform.
If only I was pretty like her.
And we walk around carrying that victim mentality, trying to win sympathy from others.
Now that’s pity and God hates it, because when you speak the language of pity the focus is on nothing but you alone.
Pity will make you feel miserable.
Pity will steal everything good that God has blessed you with.
Pity will even push you to hurt yourself.
Listen, God doesn’t want you to come to Him begging for things in your life but He wants you to walk to Him as a son who knows what he wants.
Mercy is knowing that the Father’s hand is over your life.
Mercy is knowing that no matter what happens, God will work it for my good.
It’s time to get rid of every self pity and victim mentality and walk with heads held high knowing that you are a son, and that the God you serve is a merciful God.
