Why The Devil Hates Spiritual Sons

By Pastor Derrick D’souza

“Now the Philistines had stopped up all the wells which his father’s servants had dug in the days of Abraham his father, and they had filled them with earth.
Genesis 26:15

The enemy’s plan is to always stop the fathers’ wells by filling them up with dirt and earth, so they cannot sustain the children, the heirs to whom the inheritance belongs.

But we see in Genesis 26:18 that Isaac located, dug, and named the wells with the names his father gave them. This is how a spiritual son should be; digging the father’s well.

We see that by doing this, Issac established a connection to his father’s grace and inherited the blessing from God himself.

You will notice that there was a transfer of the blessing from Abraham’s life to Issac that took place shortly after Issac dug his father’s wells.

The blessing that comes by digging your father’s wells

“And the Lord appeared to him the same night and said, “I am the God of your father Abraham; do not fear, for I am with you. I will bless you and multiply your descendants for My servant Abraham’s sake.”
Genesis 26:24

Here Issac built his first altar. Until that day, Issac feared the altar because his father laid him on one! But now he understands what he has misunderstood all his life. It is here that Issac gets an understanding into the secrets of his father; may you know the way of fathers.

Even though Issac’s father blessed him before dying, it’s here that he officially got the blessing confirmed from God Himself the same day that he dug his father’s wells. (Genesis 25:5, 26:24). Again, on the same day, Issac’s servants dug a well and found water. (Genesis 26:25)

So, why does the devil hate a spiritual son?

Because only a spiritual son can see what others cannot. While others ask for directions on how to inherit a blessing, a spiritual son knows that it’s in identifying, locating and sustaining a father’s well that causes the blessing and inheritance to flow without asking.

May you be the son that never asks for an inheritance but knows that all that the father has is yours.

May you POSSESS the abundant life.

Shalom.

May you be the son that never asks for an inheritance but knows that all that the father has is yours.
