Change.

Not many of us like it. In fact change is often scary because it brings us to a point where we need to break out of our comfort shell and step into the unknown.

Change, Leave and go forth

In a season of change? Leave and Go forth.

I often think of Abram. One day God told him, “Leave your land, your relatives, and your father’s home. Go to the land that I will show you (Genesis 12:1).

God’s instructions to Abram were clear – Leave and Go forth

I am sure this change would not have been easy for him and his family. But God was telling Abram, “Leave all that you have been holding on to for years, and go forth because the future that I have set before you is better than what you have lived so far. Leave all that you have been considering as your security and go forth because from now on you will know that I am your strength and I am enough for you. Leave the comfort of familiar faces that you have surrounded yourself with and go forth into the unknown land, but not without Me by your side.

And Genesis 12:4 says… Abram left, leaving all behind.

Abram chose to embrace this change and walk into an unknown future, holding on to the promise that God gave him. Because he did that, we know later on how the blessings of God exploded into his life.

Obey & Embrace Change

Here’s the number one point that I am trying to make: Sometimes God may direct you to a change. It may look difficult and it may be painful too. But embrace it and your obedience will open unimaginable doors of blessings for you. Obey, because no matter how hard you reason you will not understand His plan and scheme of things right now.

Go forth, but don’t take your ‘Lot’ along

As per God’s instructions, Abram was supposed to leave his father’s household and his relatives. Hence he was not supposed to take his nephew Lot along with him. But for some reason, Abram allowed Lot to tag along. Later on trouble brewed between him and Lot which ultimately caused them to part ways.

In Genesis 13:14-15 we read, it was after Lot parts with Abram, God specifically promised Abram that his descendants would be very many and that they would possess the promised land of Canaan.

Here’s my second point, when God brings about changes in your life, don’t try to hold on to the ‘Lot’ of your past life. It doesn’t matter how painful your past has been. It doesn’t even matter how glorious and victorious it was. In order to move into the fullness to which God is calling you to, you need to let go.

So, Leave and Go forth.

Ponder Point: Are there any changes God is impressing upon your life? What has been the most challenging part to obey?
