This is the concluding post by  Joel Pawar on the topic of  ‘Rest’. Joel gave his life to Jesus when he was 15 and has since then been committed to preach and teach the truth of the Gospel, with a vision to reveal the real Jesus from His Word. A lot to learn from this man of God who we have seen passionately reaching out to others with the love of God. Joel is also an anointed worshipper, a gifted musician and a song writer.

As children of God we must believe that God has planned rest for us and not restlessness. Hebrews 4:9 says “There remains Sabbath rest for the children of God.”

God made Adam and Eve on the sixth day, while the seventh day was a day of rest.

In the Old Covenant, the high priest was not permitted to sit or rest while performing his duties (Hebrews 8:1-4). However today our High Priest, Jesus is seated and resting at the right hand of God after crushing the head of the devil on the cross.

So if you believe in Jesus Christ, you are seated with Him in His rest. Today if you are stressed or troubled waiting for your breakthrough, then I pray that the above truth of the Word of God will set you free!

The day of Sabbath was declared as the day of complete rest, which means no one was allowed to do any of their routine work.

However in Luke 6:5 Jesus says, I am the Lord of Sabbath.

The truth is that today Jesus Himself has become your rest. In fact He alone can give you rest. He says in Matthew 11:28, “I will give you rest”.

Miracles in the place of ‘rest’
If you notice, Jesus performed 7 out of the 37 miracles mentioned in the Gospels on the Sabbath day, when people believed that not even miracles could happen on the day of rest!

On the day of rest in Luke 6:6-8, Jesus healed a man with a withered hand, who was in a helpless situation and had to live a dismal life depending on others.

In John 5:1-10, Jesus heals a man who was suffering from paralysis for 38 long years. Some of us are not even of that age! Every year for 38 years this man was waiting for his miracle.

In John 10:1-16, Jesus healed a man who was blind from birth, who never saw himself or his loved ones, or the beautiful nature around and who knew no colours except darkness.

In Luke 13: 10-13, Jesus healed a woman who was double bent for 18 long years.

In Luke 4:38-41, Jesus came out of synagogue and healed Peter’s mother-in-law of high fever.

Your situation is not hopeless
Friends, today may be you  see yourself in similar situations like the man with the withered hand, helpless and dependent; or like the paralytic man who saw only disappointment every year for 38 years of his life; or like the blind man knew nothing but darkness; or like the woman whose life was marred in dirt and dust.

All these people were not even hopeful to receive any miracles on the Sabbath as the law demanded rest, but Jesus turned it around for them. And the same Jesus who touched their lives is with you today. Your situation is not hopeless, but you can believe and receive your breakthrough from the Lord of Rest – Jesus, who is your Father, Elder Brother and Comforter.

Remember restlessness leads to disappointment, discouragement, anxiety, failure and wrong decision making, but only Rest finds Favour from The Father.

Will you come to Him today with your burdens?
