How to Find God’s Favour In a Difficult Season

Daniel knew what it was to lose everything. As a young man, he saw the destruction of his own country, and was driven away from his family.
The enemy tried to change his identity and break him by changing his name, clothes and even tried to make him eat their food and partake of their wickedness.
Yet, what they never knew was that Daniel’s identity was not in what he wore, ate or drank but in who he carried with him.
While everyone else would have gone bitter and complained in an hour of life being stripped of everything, Daniel purposed in his heart not to defile himself, but to keep himself in the love of God.
The way we behave in our hour of trial will reveal our deepest desire and the attitude we carry.

Daniel did not decide to not defile himself when everything was going good for him. He made this decision when his whole world fell apart.
What the enemy did not know was that Daniel’s world was his God and therefore, he walked even more intentionally knowing that no one could strip him from the glory that carried him.
No one can ever enslave a child of God whose whole world is God.
If you are going through trying times, here are 3 key takeaways from the life of Daniel to strengthen you and help you find God’s favour:
- Your circumstances should never dictate your behaviour or enslave you. Remember, what you carry in you is what makes you sacred, holy and privileged above all mankind.
- You are born of God. So, what may seem as a social calamity and loss to the whole world will be your place of promotion.
- What you lost is not more than what you carry with you! You shall rise and be elevated when all is lost and be carried to the highest place with honour because inside of you lives the Spirit of God.
What we purpose in our hearts in the hour of trial, will result in either ‘Victory’ or ‘Discouragement.’ Choose to walk away from discouragement, dishonour and disobedience, and know that you are not alone.
When Daniel chose not to defile himself and keep his heart steady with God, the very next verse says that God gave him favour and tender love with the prince of Eunuchs (Daniel 1:9). As you read this, let unmerited favour locate and follow your heart that is fixed on Jesus.
Shalom
No one can ever enslave a child of God whose whole world is God
