If you are someone who has been waiting for your financial breakthrough, let me begin by saying this: God passionately desires for your prosperity. Jesus came to give us an abundant life (John 10:10). Now any dictionary will tell you that ‘abundance’ means ‘plentiful’, much more than a mere hand-to-mouth existence. Well, then why am I struggling in my finances? If this is what your heart is questioning, I pray that as you release your faith and act on God’s principles of financial increase below, you will see your breakthrough:
1. Know that your prosperity lies in your hands
When Jesus died on the cross, He paid the price of your prosperity and redeemed you from the curse of poverty. Now, there is always a man-ward and God-ward side to God’s promises. God has accomplished His part, so if you are broke, you can’t blame God. “Does that mean that I suffer lack because of something I am not doing?” Yes, your prosperity lies in your hands.
2. God doesn’t give wealth
God doesn’t give wealth; He gives you the power to get wealth. Always remember that it is the Lord your God who gives you the power to become rich, and He does it to fulfil the covenant He made with your ancestors (Deuteronomy 8:18). This verse also tells us two things: a) if we get wealth but don’t establish His covenant, we are out of His will and b) if we don’t seek to learn His principles of getting wealth for the purpose of establishing His covenant, but content to stay broke–we are again out of His will.

3. What is your motive to get wealth?
God doesn’t mind if you own an abundance of material things; provided those things don’t own you. Don’t ever believe God for $10,000, unless you are prepared to do with that $10,000 what God would do. And what would God do? He would find a way to bring souls to heaven. Gospel is free but it takes millions of dollars to reach every man (Romans 10:13-15). A person can accomplish a great deal for God’s kingdom with money, than without it. When you line up your purpose with God’s purpose and believe Him for what you need and His covenant guarantees that He will find a way to get that wealth to you.
4. You do the seeking; let God do the adding
One mistake we make is we try to do the adding, but that’s not our part, our job is to do the seeking. Seek God! (Matthew 6:31-33). The Bible says as long as Uzziah sought the LORD, God gave him success. (2 Chronicles 26:5). Only way in which you can walk in the light of the truth regarding your financial prosperity is to change the way you think by renewing your mind with God’s word. Remember Satan is not after your money or health, he is after the word. Delve into God’s word and it will cause your spirit, soul and body to prosper.
5. Stop robbing God by withholding your tithes
Prove me—the only time God says this is in reference to tithes (Malachi 3:6-9). Tithe is a debt that we are privileged to owe, so when we pay your tithes, you simply return what already belongs to God (which also means that Tithe is not our seed, but offering is!). Stop robbing God by withholding your tithes. Often people wonder whether they should tithe of their gross income or net. Well it depends on whether they want God’s gross blessings or net!
6. Principle of sowing and reaping
Look at what Luke 6: 38 says, Give and it shall be given unto you, good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall MEN give into your bosom. It is men who will pour into your bosom which means that all the wealth you ever need is on the earth, not with God! Question is: How do I get access to it?
There is no way to reap a financial harvest without first sowing a seed! (Gal 6:7). If you are believing God for a financial harvest, first sow the seeds. Sow in the area of your need. Do you need your debts cancelled? Plant seeds into your church to help get its debt cancelled. If you are a ministry, what are you sowing into other ministries? God has put the law of sowing and reaping into this planet and it WILL work for anyone who will work at it. (Mark 3:8).
SOW. If you get hold of this one word, it will CHANGE your life. Make sure you don’t miss the second part to understand the principles of sowing and reaping.
