(By Derrick)

If you consider yourself to be a man or woman of God who wants to be used for his Glory, you need to enroll yourself in the Holy Spirit School  (HSS). Remember God does not call the qualified but qualifies the called (John14:26).

The reason I am writing this post is because many of us know we have a calling and some have even been revealed their assignment, however somewhere down the road we get frustrated, anxious and start doubting God’s promises to be fulfilled in our lives.

The Holy Spirit spoke firmly about this today, He said, “Derrick you need to depend fully on me to accomplish what I have called you to do and there is no other way out.”

He continued, “You can stand in all the queues for prayer, anointing and prophesy, however these will not help if you are not leaning on me daily to carry you through.”

I thought to myself, I am already doing this Lord. So the next day I got a practical lesson!

The spouse fight

Let me ask you, how many of you get into fights, disagreement or disputes? I sincerely feel all fights fade in intensity when compared to a verbal disagreement with your spouse! Recently I happened to have one argument with my loving wife – All I can say is that I can’t even remember the real reason we argued but there were words exchanged. Now we both know the power of words and the Bible says where there are many words, there is transgression (Proverbs 10:19).

Anyways I left for work that day and all along the way I was being filled with negative thoughts and I just could not seem to apply the brakes. I began to whine and complain just as Adam did when God caught him with the forbidden fruit in his hands.

Yielding to the Holy Spirit

I finally began to ask the Lord to help me overcome and receive his forgiveness. That’s when the Holy Spirit began to minister to me and tell me how much we need to depend on Him for every situation in life. Because truly friends, we cannot easily forgive, bless, love, give, be patient, kind etc in times of difficulty unless we are leaning on the Holy Spirit.

It is ONLY when we throw ourselves on the Lord and ask him for help in every situation that we truly begin to draw on His limitless power and grace to do the impossible. The only block to obeying the Holy Spirit is our pride, but if we obey we will be more than conquerors in Christ who strengthens us.

Here’s the principle

You cannot live the Word of God without leaning on His grace and strength to accomplish what He has called you to do.  You and I must develop an intimate relationship with the Holy Spirit. Decide today and enroll in the school of the Holy Spirit for life for He will motivate, counsel and teach you great truths in simple ways that you will never be able to discover with all the head knowledge that the world can give you (Isaiah 30:20) It doesn’t matter how many Scriptures you know, but is your life showing the fruit of the Holy Spirit? (Galatians 5:22-25) I definitely do not want to become a big strong tree with only branches and no fruit! (Matthew 7:15-20)

Throughout the Bible we read of God using men and women who had nothing extraordinary to demonstrate in their natural capabilities, but when they enrolled in the HSS, their lives bore extraordinary fruits!

So let’s decide today that not a single opportunity that the world throws to us will not get wasted, instead we will use these situations to learn and find out what the Holy Spirit tells us and draw the power and grace we need to do what he says (Galatians 5:16-18). Let’s yield and live by to the Holy Spirit because those who are led by the Spirit are Sons of God (Romans 8:14). No more defeats! The only defeated one here is the devil and our sinful desires.

By the way of you are wondering what was the conclusion to the fight with my wife – Well, the Holy Spirit not only filled me with more love and joy to overcome but also gave me this post so I could share this with you. That’s how He turns our weaknesses into strengths, our failures into success!
