The following blogpost is an excerpt from a talk given by our friend Richmond Philipnery from Canada at the recently concluded leadership meet in Mumbai organised by Revive Nations. Richmond is the treasurer at Revive Nations and also works in his secular job as an accounting lecturer in college and university in Canada. We believe the below principles will bless your heart as much as it blessed ours!
1. Live a God conscious life
Someone once said, “People have two reasons for doing anything—a good reason and the real reason.” What’s your real reason?
As a leader make sure your thoughts and motives are aligned with the Word of God. As John maxwell, American author, speaker and pastor puts it: Question your motives often because the temptation to lead for selfish reasons is strong. You need grace to live a God conscious life.
2. Live in the Fear of God
Here is how you define fear – fear means I should be careful of not breaking God’s heart. Love God unconditionally and represent Him well because you are His ambassador. Focus on developing your character (what you are on the inside) for true character is what creates true influence.
3. Don’t be a cheap talker
You are a cheap talker when you believe His Word but don’t live it. Jesus said : “Follow me” and not “Hear me”. As a ministry leader make sure the Word of God touches you before you preach it to others.
4. Be humble
On the stage and off the stage, always remain a servant of God. It is humility that attracts the favour of God. Remain humble and hungry for more of God.
5. Finish strong
Finally finish strong. Remember a runner in Olympics wins a gold medal not for starting well or for his past records, but because he finishes well. Be faithful to God till the end.
