5000 is too much!

Recently I was at a three-day youth conference in the south of India. As the youth started pouring in on the first day of the conference, I got to know that there were around 1000 of them who turned up at the venue.
That completely blew me.
Because 1000 looked really really huge. It was WAY beyond what I had imagined.
And my mind immediately raced to the incident in the Bible when Jesus fed the multitude. The number of those who ate was about 5000 men, beside women and children (Matthew 14:13-21).
So, what I could see at the conference was only one-fifth of the people whom Jesus fed. And again, this was beside women and children!
Be thankful to GOD in everything!
Always in my imagination 5000 was a decent crowd, but when I actually gauged how much it could actually be in reality, I was dumbfounded. I had tears in my eyes at the awesomeness of our God and the finiteness of our thinking.
Here is what I am leading you to:
You see we all have unmet desires, answers that we are seeking God for, prophesies that are still waiting to be fulfilled. And with all this piling up in our minds, we somehow miss out on thanking God for what He has already done. We miss out on being grateful for the promises that are already fulfilled by Him.
Knowingly-unknowingly we take His mercies for granted. We take His presence for granted.
We often end up focusing on what we don’t have rather than thanking God for what He has already given us.
And that’s how our hearts become hardened.
If we are not grateful for where we are right now, we will never be satisfied when God brings us to where He wants us to be.
Even as you read this, I encourage you to take time to reflect on your life and thank God.
Like the Psalmist says, For you make me glad by your deeds, Lord I sing for joy at what your hands have done. How great are your works Lord, how profound your thoughts (Psalm 92:4-5).
