Beware, This Way the Devil Can Steal Your Destiny

By Kim D’souza

It’s amazing how the Holy Spirit speaks to us in our day to day life. Recently we celebrated our son Jeremiah’s birthday and among the many gifts that he received was an inflatable boxing toy. This comes filled with a heavy base of sand, that enables it to stand on its own once air is blown into it to its maximum capacity.

This is something that Jeremiah enjoyed the most! Because of its strong base, everytime he boxed and kicked the toy, it bounced back with equal force.

That’s when the Holy Spirit spoke to me and said, “This is how a child of Jesus is supposed to live his life, bouncing back hard at every weapon the devil devises for your downfall.”

Because we live in a fallen world, there are going to be troubles and challenges. But the Word of God says: All things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose (Romans 8:28).

A seemingly small mistake can lead to big loss.

And, if God did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all- how will he not, along with him, graciously give us all things? ( Romans 8:32)

It also says: In all things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. (Romans 8:37). And, nothing can separate us from the love of God that in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:39).

When the Word of God become the foundation of your life, and when you are secure in God’s love, you will never give up running your race. No amount of trials, discouragement, or persecution or fiery darts of the enemy will be able to keep you down.

We got to be like that bouncy inflatable toy!

Sadly, Jeremiah’s toy had a quick end.

One morning when we woke up, we saw the toy crumpled and all air fizzled out. And no matter how hard we tried to pump air into it, it just couldn’t stand. Then we figured out the reason – a small, almost invisible cut was the cause of it. All the air that was inside was leaking out from this cut.

Beware dear child of Jesus, if there is one thing that can stop you from reigning in life and getting hold of the great destiny that God has a planned for your life, it is the cut of “offence.”

Jesus said that it is impossible that no offenses should come (Luke 17:1). But when you allow the seed of offence and bitterness to take root in your life, it can suck the air of the spirit within you and hinder your walk with the Lord. Instead, no matter how primitive or deep- hidden the offence may be within your heart, choose to forgive and let go. May be you were misunderstood, may be you were justified in what you said or did, but hey, this offence is definitely not worth God’s call over your life.

Focus on pleasing the heart of God more than pleasing your false pride. Do what God requires of you, and not what your flesh is leading you to.

And what does God require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God. (Micah 6:8).

So keep your hearts clean and don’t let offence pull you down. Let go!
